What We Believe
HOW WE LIVE AND WHAT WE BELIEVE
Renovation Church is committed to developing lifestyles of Worshiping, Caring, Learning, Reaching Out, and Prayer in order to multiply a lifestyle of Christ’s love.
Following Christ is the foundational mission of the church. Following Christ involves inviting people to respond to the Gospel, teaching them to obey and listen to the Word and the Spirit, and learning to love both God and others well.
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ ”
Matthew 28:18-20
This lifestyle of following Christ is manifested in at least five ways:
WORSHIPING:
We are created to wholeheartedly worship God, giving ourselves to Him – spirit, soul & body.
“…ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” – 1 Chronicles 16:29
“…you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:20
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31
CARING:
We resolve to love others through acts of service, caring for those in need.
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” – Galatians 5:13
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Mark 10:45
“And He sat down and called the twelve. And He said to them, ’If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.’” – Mark 9:35
LEARNING:
Spiritual Growth flows from learning God’s ways from God’s Word and the Holy Spirit in the context of authentic community.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
“Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt…” – 1 Thes. 5:19-20 (NIV)
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” – Matthew 18:20 (NIV)
REACHING OUT:
We are blessed to be a blessing by sharing the Good News and loving our community.
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Mark 16:15 (NIV)
“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” – Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV)
PRAYER:
Prayer is a two-way conversation with God that aligns us with His purposes.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
“This, then, is how you should pray, ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:9-10
“In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” – Psalm 5:3
